3. 2G Sunset
   

Remember going from analog to digital with your cell phone carrier in February 2007? Cable television did it in June 2009. Now the cellular industry is at it again. With the advent of 3G and the increasingly popular 4G services, 2G service is rapidly becoming too cumbersome for the networks to carry. Starting this year, any 2G service will be confined to the slow lanes with the eighteen wheeler. 2G service will be “available” until 2015, but the wireless carriers will avoid any investments into a dying technology, opting to support and improve service to their 3G and 4G clients.
